New York Jets defensive lineman Jermaine Johnson had a direct message for Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes during a recent interview with senior Jets reporter Eric Allen.
When asked about their pass-rush strategy against a quarterback of Mahomes’ caliber, Johnson confidently responded with a smile, “Rest assured, we have a plan for him.”

In Week 4 of the NFL season, the Jets-Chiefs matchup boasts one of the larger point spreads, with Kansas City being favored by 8.5 points, according to Vegas Insider.
Initially opening at 9.5 points, it’s noteworthy that the betting money has leaned toward the Jets, causing a one-point shift in the line as of the latest update.
Despite the odds stacked against them, Johnson’s remarks may serve as added motivation for the Chiefs leading up to the game. The Jets, as a team, have only recorded six sacks in the first three weeks of the 2023 season, ranking them at No. 27 in the league in this regard.
To have a chance at an upset victory against the Chiefs, the Jets must focus on making Mahomes as uncomfortable as possible. Statistically, their sack numbers have been lacking this year, and it’s concerning from a New York perspective that Mahomes has been sacked just once in the season, the fewest among all starting quarterbacks in the NFL through the initial three weeks.
